Chap. 576.—An ACT for the relief of Charles H. Pyle and Robert W. DeHaven,
of Petersburg, Virginia.

Whereas it appears that during the years eighteen hundred and
eighty-eight, eighteen hundred and eighty-nine and eighteen hundred
and ninety a certain tract of land near Ford’s depot, in the county
of Dinwiddie, containing one hundred and thirty-five acres, more or
less, sold and conveyed by Charles H. Pyle and Robert W. DeHaven,
of Petersburg, Virginia, to James Anderson, in the year eighteen
hundred and eighty-seven, and reconveyed by said Anderson to said
Pyle and DeHaven in the yeareighteen hundred and ninety-one, was
by erroneous entries made in the land-books of said county assessed
with taxes and levies for said three first-mentioned years both in the
name of said Pyle and DeHaven and the name of said Anderson;
and whereas it further appears that all of said taxes and levies have
been paid, those assessed in the name of said Anderson for the year
eighteen hundred and eighty-eight excepted, and that said land
having been returned delinquent for these last-mentioned taxes and
levies and sold therefor, was purchased in the name of the auditor of
public accounts as provided by law: therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That said
land shall be, and the same hereby is, released from the payment of
said taxes and levies for which it was returned delinquent as afore-
said, and from all penalties, interests, costs and charges incident to
its being returned delinquent and sold as aforegaid, and it shall be
further lawful for the county court of Dinwiddie, in the manner pre-
scribed by law, to make the proper order for the refunding to said
Pyle and DeHaven of the taxes and levies on said land for the years
eighteen hundred and eighty-nine and eighteen hundred and ninety
which shall appear to said court to have been paid by them: pro-
vided application to said court for such relief be made within six
months from the date of the passage of this act.
2. This act shal! be in force from its passage.
