Chap. 540.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 149 of the code of Virginia,
in regard to pay of judges and clerks of election.
Approved March 1, 1894.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That sec-
Jon one hundred and forty-nine of the code of Virginia be amended
ind re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 149. Pay of judges and clerks of election—The judges and clerks
yf any election, held under this chapter, shall receive as compensa-
ion for their services the sum of one dollar each, and the judge car-
‘ying the returns from his voting place to the county clerk’s office
hall receive for such services the sum of one dollar, and in the
counties of Accomac and Northampton all necessary traveling ex-
penses, to be paid out of the county treasury, and the judge carrying
the poll-books from his voting precinct to the county clerk’s offices
in Shenandoah, Page and Frederick counties shall be paid one dollar
for such service, and his mileage, at four cents per mile, each way
in performing the said duty, to be paid out of the county treasury.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
