Chap. 442.—An ACT to amend and re-enact an act for the protection of the
riparian rights and rights of fishery of owners of land in the Elizabeth river.
Approved February 27, 1894.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That an
act to amend and re-enact an act, approved March third, eighteen
hundred and ninety-two, entitled an act for the protection of the
riparian rights and rights of fishery of owners of land in the Eliza-
beth river, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 1. That neither chapter ninety-seven of the code of Virginia, nor
any act passed hitherto in amendment thereof, shall be so construed
as to abridge or destroy any of the riparian right or rights of fishery
of the owners of land on the eastern side of the Elizabeth river and
the tributaries thereof south of Sewell’s point, or on the western side
of said river and the tributaries thereof from the north side of
Craney island south, as the said waters of said river and its tribu-
taries are now embraced in the jurisdiction of the state board of
harbor commissioners for the harbor of Norfolk and Portsmouth,
Virginia.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
