Chap. 38.—An ACT to prevent the extermination of partridges or quails in the
county of Rockbridge.
Approved January 15, 1894.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That it shal
be unlawful for any person to kill or capture any partridges or quail:
in the county of Rockbridge for the period of two years, or to offe:
for sale or buy any partridges or quails so unlawfully killed or cap
tured in said county, within the aforesaid period.
2. Any person violating this act shall be deemed guilty of a mis
demeanor and fined ten dollars for each offence, and imprisoned i1
jail until the fine be paid, but not exceeding thirty days. In eacl
case one-half of the fine shall go to the informer.
3. In any prosecution of a person for a violation of this act, proo
of the possession of any such bird shall be prima facie evidence o
his guilt.
4, The operation of section two thousand and seventy-nine of th
code of eighteen hundred and eighty-seven, so far as it relates to thi
particular game and_is in conflict with this act, is hereby sua
pended in the county of Rockbridge for the period of two years.
5. This act shall be in force from its passage.
