Chap. 346.—An ACT to amend and re-enact an act approved November 29,
1884, for the relief of the Shenandoah Valley and other agricultural socie-
ties.
Approved February 23, 1894.
Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That an act
entitled an act for the relief of the Shenandoah valley and other
agricultural societies, approved November twenty-ninth, eighteen
hundred and eighty-four, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as
follows:
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
property of the Shenandoah valley agricultural society and the Lou-
doun county live stock exhibition association, the Piedmont agri-
cultural society, the Franklin agricu)tural and mechanical society,
the James river valley agricultural fair of Scottsville, and the Roa-
noke live stock association, and all other agricultural societies in this
state, be, and the same are hereby, exempted from taxation so long
as the same is used exclusively for fair purposes.
2. Be it further enacted, That during the exhibition of the Shenan-
doah valley agricultural society, the Shenadoah county agricultural so-
ciety and other agricultural societies, not to exceed ten daysin any
year, no license or other tax other than such as the society itself shall
impose, shall be assessed or charged upon any games on exhibition or
articles or animals exposed for sale upon the grounds of the said so-
ciety, or privileges granted or let by said society to any one: pro-
vided, however, that this act shall not be so construed as to exempt
any property from taxation otherwise than is expressly provided in
this act: provided the exemption from taxation may at any time be
repealed by the legislature; but this act shall not be construed to
allow any of the societies to license any gambling device forbidden
and made unlawful by the general laws of the state.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
