Chap. 322.—An ACT to enlarge the powers of the Roanoke street railway com-
pany.
Approved February 21, 1894.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
Roanoke street railway company (a corporation duly chartered by
an act of the general assembly) is hereby authorized and empowered
to acquire by purchase, or to construct, suitable works in the city of
Roanoke, Virginia, for the manufacture and generation, distribution
and sale of electricity, to be used for the purpose of illuminating or
heating the public streets, halls, churches, stores, private residences
and other buildings in the city of Roanoke or the county of Roa-
noke, and for furnishing motor power for running electric cars upon
its own lines, or to other corporations and persons in said city and
county, and invested with all the necessary powers incident thereto ;
also to purchase and acquire stock in other like companies, and to
issue preferred stock not to exceed two hundred thousaud dollars in
amount. "
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
