Chap. 31.—An ACT to amend section 5 of an act approved March 1, 1892, enti-
tled “An act to ineorporate the Rockingham and West Virginia railway,
mining and manufacturing company.”
Approved January 15, 1894.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
five of an act approved March first, eighteen hundred and ninety-
o, entitled “An act to incorporate the Rockingham and West Vir-
nia railway, mining and manufacturing company,” be amended
d re-enacted so as to read as follows:
$ 5. The said company shall have power to search for and develop
ineral properties, to mine and produce ores and earths useful for
unufacturing purposes, coal, iron, lead, and all other minerals, ores
id metals; the purchase and sale of the same; the working, re-
icing, smelting and refining of the same, and the erection of chem-
al works and steam and water mills, and working of the same;
so the construction and maintenance of railroads, tramways,
idges and telegraph lines connecting the mines and properties of
id company with lines and trunk lines of railroads and telegraph
neg to or near Riverton as an eastern terminus, and via Powell’s
rt, at or near Broadway, through Brock’s gap, to the West Virginia
ne as a western terminus; or may connect the mines and proper-
Ps Of the said company with other branches or trunk lines of rail-
ads and telegraph lines by the construction, maintenance and ope-
tion of railroads, tramways, bridges and telegraph lines to or near
atthias point, on the Potomac river, and from thence by the most
asible route to the West Virginia state line bordering on Augusta
1d Rockingham counties, or so much of said line or lines as will
-omote and aid the objects of said company; and said corporation
.all have and exercise all the general powers and functions of a
ymmon carrier; and the said company shall have power and may
1ild and maintain pipe lines, water ditches, flumes and reservoirs,
1d to draw water from any water course adjacent to their mines and
roperties.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
