Chap. 160.—An ACT to prevent the wanton or malicious killing or injuring of
dogs listed for taxation in Albemarle county.

Whereas there is in force in the county of Albemarle a law impos-
y a tax upon all dogs and bitches: therefore,

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That it shall
unlawful in said county of Albemarle for any person to wantonly
maliciously kill, destroy or injure any dog or bitch listed for tax-
on in said county; and any person offending against this section
all be punished by fine of not less than five nor more than fifty
llars for each offence, and shall, in addition, be liable to the owner
such dog or bitch for damages in acivil action or warrant for
ch killing, destroying or injuring.

2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
