Chap. 154.—An ACT to confirm the merger and consolidation of the Lynch.
burg street railway company and the Lynchburg electric company.
Approved February 6, 1894.
Whereas the Lynchburg street railway company and the Lynch.
burg electric company have, for the more economical administration
of their affairs, and pursuant to authority for that purpose granted
in the charter of the said electric company, approved February fifth.
eighteen hundred and ninety-two, consolidated and merged both o!
said companies into one corporation, as appears by the contract o!
consolidation between the said two companies, made by authority
of the stockholders thereof, respectively, bearing date on the twenty.
eighth day of November, eighteen hundred and ninety-two, anc
duly recorded in the office of the secretary of the commonwealtt
of this state, by which said contract it also appears that said con.
solidated company has also acquired the property and contrac!
rights of the Piedmont electric illuminating company, all of saic
companies having had their principal offices or places of busines:
in the city of Lynchburg, and being engaged in or proposing t«
engage in enterprises of to some extent a kindred nature: there.
fore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
aforesaid consolidation and merger of said two companies and the
said contract of merger and consolidation, and all acts done in
pursuance thereof, be, and the same are hereby, confirmed and de.
clared valid and binding; and the said consolidated company shal
succeed to all the works, property, franchises, rights, easement
and claims of said two consolidated companies, and be subject t
all their duties, liabilities and obligations, as provided in saic
contract.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
