CHAP. 553.—An ACT to establish a market day for cattle in
Richmond.
Approved March 1, 1892.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That in the city of Richmond, and within one mile of the
corporate limits of said city, the market-day for the sale
of beef cattle shall be on two days in each week—viz:
Thursday and Friday, and for the sale of other kinds of
stock on any day in the week, Sunday excepted.
2. That no stock of whatever nature used for food shall
be sold or offered for sale on Sundays (said sale or offers
of sale to be evidenced by owners or agents selling or
offering same to purchaser, or by any agreement or under-
standing being reached between buyer and seller as to
price of said stock, or by said stock being marked, weighed,
or delivered on said day to purchaser. )
3. That any owner or agent violating this act shall be
subjected to a fine of not less than fifty nor more than five
hundred dollars for each and every offence so proved
against him.
4. This act shall be in force from May first, eighteen
hundred and ninety-two.
