CHAP. 463.—An ACT to authorize the voters of Stanton River
_ district, Pittsylvania county, to vote on the fence law.
- Approved February 29, 1892.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That it shall be the duty of the judge of the county court
of Pittsylvania county, upon the petition in writing of one
hundred qualified voters in Stanton river district, in said
county, one-half of whom shall be freeholders, whose names
shall be written or verified, which petition may be pre-
sented either in term time or vacation, to order a special
election in said district upon the question of adopting the
fence law as provided for in an act entitled an act relating
to fences and the protection of crops, passed January
twenty-sixth, eighteen hundred and sixty-six. The said
judge shall, within ten days after the receipt of said peti-
tion, certify the fact to the sheriff of said county, whose
duty it shall be to forthwith post at each voting precinct
in said district or districts, notice of said election, and also
to give notice to the officers charged with the duty of con-
ducting election in said district or districts, and also to
publish the same in some local newspaper not less than
one month prior to said election.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
