CHAP. 435.—An ACT for the relief of the Friendship fire compa-
ny, No. 1, of Winchester, from the payment of certain delin-
quent taxes due to the state of Virginia.
Approved February 29, 1892.
Whereas, at a sale for delinquent taxes for the years
eighteen hundred and seventy-six, eighteen hundred
and seventy-seven, eighteen hundred and seventy-eight,
eighteen hundred and seventy-nine, eighteen hundred
and eighty, eighteen hundred and eighty-one, eighteen
hundred and eighty-two and eighteen hundred and
eighty-three by the treasurer of the city of Winches-
ter, on the twentieth day of September, eighteen hun-
dred and eighty-six, a certain lot, designated on the
plat of said city of Winchester as lot number thirteen,
north side of Cook street, and assessed to Daniel Fa-
gan, was purchased by the commonwealth for the
amount of the taxes thereon, to-wit: fifteen dollars
and ten cents, there being no other bidder therefor; and
whereas the Friendship fire company, number one, of Win-
chester, an association whose members patriotically render
important services to the public as firemen gratuitously,
have purchased from the owner of said lot for the purpose
of building an engine-house thereon—
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That the lot be relieved from the lien of said taxes, and
all interest, costs, and penalties thereon, and the clerk of
the corporation court of the city of Winchester is directed
to enter on the record of said sale that the lien has been
released by this act.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
