CHAP. 42.—An ACT to incorporate the Presbyterian home of
Lexington, Virginia.
Approved January 9, 1892.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That E. J. Leyburn, W. H. Waddell, J. McD. Adair, W.
C. Stuart, J. K. Edmondson, J. T. McCrum, J. D. Anderson,
E. L. Perry, F. H. Smith, junior, and J. L. Campbell, are
created a body politic and corporate under the name of
the Presbyterian home of Lexington, Virginia, and as
such to enjoy all the privileges and be subject to all the
liabilities given and imposed by the laws of this state, so
far as the provisions of this act are not in confict there-
witb.
2. The purposes of this corporation are purely char-
itable, and are the establishment and maintenance in the
town of Lexington, Virginia, of an institution in which
indigent and infirm persons of reputable character, es-
pecially such as are connected with the Presbyterian
church in the United States, may be provided with a com-
fortable home gratuitously, or on such charges as may be
prescribed, and in which the aged, infirm, sick and
wounded, especially of the Presbyterian church and con-
gregation in Lexington, Virginia, may be cared for, and
to which they may be admitted upon such proper regula-
tions and conditions as may be prescribed.
3. This corporation may take and hold all personal prop-
erty and real estate not exceeding ten acres of land that
may be given, granted, bequeathed, and devised to it; to
invest all money and other personalty thus acquired; to
change investments, and sell or exchange real estate, and
to deal with said property in such manner as may seem
judicious; the whole amount of property not to exceed
fifty thousand dollars.
4. When any of the aforesaid incorporators shall die or
resign, the vacancy shall be filled from members of the
Lexington Presbyterian church, at Lexington, Virginia
5. The said incorporators, their associates, and succes-
sors, shall have power to manage said institution, appoint
the officers thereof, make all necessary rules and by-laws
for the contro] and management of the same.
6. All property acquired and held by this corporation
shall, while used and applied for the exclusive use and
benefit of said institution, be exempt from taxation.
7. This act shall be in force from its passage, and shall
be subject to amendment, modification, or repeal at the
pleasure of the general assembly.
