Chap. 158.—An ACT to incorporate the Montgomery club of
Radford, Virginia.
Approved February 4, 1892.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That John G. Osborne, Robert Kirkwood, R. H. Adams,
William Ingles, James M. Norfleet, A. P. Page, M. C. Jam-
eson, junior, W. S. Battle, junior, D. H. Barger and W. H.
Galway, and such other persons as are now associated as
the Montgomery club, or may hereafter be associated with
them, are hereby constituted a body corporate, by the
name of the Montgomery club, to be located in the city
of Radford, Virginia, for the promotion of social inter-
course and for the purpose of maintaining a library and
readipg-room.
2. The said corporation shall have power to make and
adopt a constitution and by-laws, rules and regulations
for the administration and expulsion of members and
their government; the election of its officers, and to de-
fine their duties, and for the safe-keeping and protection
of its property and funds; and from time to time, to alter
or repeal such constitution, by-laws, rules and regula-
tions: provided that the same be not inconsistent with the
constitution and laws of the United States or the state of
Virginia.
3. The said corporation may purchase and hold or lease
any real estate or personal estate: provided, that the real
estate held by them at any time shall not exceed one acre
of land.
4, The present officers, hoard of governors and executive
committee shall hold their offices for their unexpired
terms, unless it shall be otherwise ordered in the next
general meeting of said corporation.
5. The present constitution and by-laws of said corpor-
ation shall remain in full force and effect until amended,
altered or repealed as provided by said constitution.
6. All taxes due the commonwealth by the said com-
pany shal] be paid in lawful money of the United States,
and not in coupons.
7. This act shall be in force from its passage, and be
subject to amendment, alteration or modification at the
pleasure of the general assembly.
