Chap. 80.—An ACT for the Relief of the Sureties of J. B. Golliday,
late Treasurer of Shenandoah County.
Approved February 17, 1876.
1. Be it enacted by the general assemblv of Virginia, That
the auditor of public accounts be and he is hereby authorized
to receive from the sureties of J. B. Golliday, late treasurer
of Shenandoah county, tax-receivable coupon bonds of the
state of Virginia at par, in payment of all taxes and public
dues, and in full satisfaction of the liabilities of said sureties
to the state on the official bond of said J. B. Golliday: pro-
vided, that as to the liability of said J. B. Golliday to the
commonwealth, the bonds so received shall be accredited
only at their market value at the time of their delivery: and
provided further, that the said sureties or their personal
representatives shall, within thirty day after the passage of
this act, give bond with security, to be approved by the
county judge of the county of Shenandoah, in the sum of
twelve thousand dollars, conditioned for the faithful perform-
ance of the provisions of this act.
2. The said sureties shall be allowed to pay their liabilities
as aforesaid in three equal annual instalments, with interest at
the rate of six per centum per annum, beginning from the date
of the passage of this act: provided, nothing in this act con-
tained shall be construed to prevent the commonwealth from
proceeding to judgment against said sureties, or their per-
sonal representatives, for their liability on the bond of said
Golliday as treasurer as aforesaid.
3. This act sha!l be in force from its passage.
