Chap. 26.—An act to amend and re-enact the first section-of an act en-
titled an act to authorize the Town‘of Fredericksburg to Issue Bonds
to Redeem her ante-war Debt, &c., passed January third, eighteen
. hundred and seventy-six.

1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the first section of an act entitled an act authorizing the
town of Fredericksburg to issue bonds to redeem her ante-
war debt, &c., passed January the third, eighteen hundred
and seventy-six, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as
follows: °
§1. Be it enacted by the gereral assembly of Virginia,
That the mayor and common council of the corporation of
Fredericksburg, shall be and they are hereby clothed with the
power to issue bonds of said corporation to an amount not
greater than one hundred and twenty thousand dollars,
bearing interest not exceeding seven per centum per annum,
and payable at such period or periods as said council may
elect. The said council shall use the bonds so issued, for the
purpose of refunding and discharging the existing debt of
said corporation, and interest accrued thereon.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
