Chap. 241.—An ACT for the relief of J. J. Burks, of Amherst
County.
Approved March 29, 1876.
Whereas at the April term, eighteen hundred and seventy-
five, of the circuit court of Amherst county, J. J. Burks was
convicted of an unlawful assault, and fined two hundred and
fifty dollars and costs; and whereas the said J. J. Burks has
paid costs, and fifteen dollars and thirty-five cents of said
fine, leaving a residue of two hundred and thirty-four dollars
and sixty-five cents still unpaid; and whereas the said Burks
is insolvent, and unable to pay the said residue; and whereas
the said Burks is liable to arrest and imprisonment for six
months, on account of the non-payment of the residue of said
fine: therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That so much
of the unpaid fine assessed against J.J. Burks at the April
term, eighteen hundred and seventy-five, of the circuit court
of Amherst county, be and the same is hereby remitted.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
