Chap. 215.—An ACT to amend and re-enact sections.fifteen and thirty
of an Act approved March twenty-ninth, eighteen hundred and sev-
enty-five, prescribing the Duties, Powers, Liabilities and Compensa-
tion of certain County Officers, providing for the Collection of Taxes,
and for the Repeal of Chapters thirty-seven and forty-six of the Code
of eighteen hundred and seventy-three. .

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
sections fifteen and thirty of chapter two hundred and sixty-
nine of the Acts of Assembly of eighteen hundred and sev-
enty-four-seventy-five, be amended and re-enacted 80 as to
read as follows: |
§ 15. He shall be allowed for his services in receiving and
disbursing the county levy, five per centum on the amount of
money so received and- disbursed, not in excess of ten thou-
sand dollars, except the treasurer of the county of Rock-
bridge, and the treasurer of the county of Botetourt, the su-
pervisors of which counties may fix the compensation of said
treasurers for tlf collection and disbursement of the county
levies for said counties; and upon the residue of said levies,
except in the county of Rockbridge, and the county of Bote-
tourt, he shall be allowed three per centum. |
§ 30. Every treasurer or collector shall be allowed for his
‘services in the receiving and paying over the revenue on
amounts of ten thousand dollars and less, five per centum;
on the amount in excess of ten thousand dollars and under
thirty thousand dollars, two per centum: on the amount in
excess of thirty thousand and under fifty thousand dollars,
one.and a half per centum; and on the amount in excess of
fifty thousand dollars, one per centum: provided, that upon
all state taxes and county levies, except as to county levies.
in the counties of Rockbridge and Botetourt, collected by
him after the first day of December, he shall receive four per
centum in addition to the regular commission provided for in
first part of this section and of section fifteen of this act: and
provided further, that upon all poll-tax collected after the
first day of December, and paid into the treasury before the
fifteenth day of June, he shall receive an additional compen-
sation of fifteen percentum. Any treasurer or collector shall
have the privilege ot electing whether to receive for the col-
lection and disbursement of the revenues and county levies
for the year eighteen hundred and seventy-five, the compen-
sation provided for by the existing law, or by this act; but
nothing herein contained shall be construed as authorizing
the allowance of compensation, either in whole or in part,
under both systems.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
