Chap. 214.—_JOINT RESOLUTION authorizing the Governor to Furn-
ish to the National Centennial Commission, a Shield bearing the
Coat of Arms of the State.
Agreed to March 28, 1876.
Whereas a request has been made by the National centen-
nial commission, of the governors of the thirteen original
states, for a shield upon which shall be painted the coat of
arms of the respective states, for the purpose of surmounting
the thirteen pillars of the National centennial museam at
Philadelphia; therefore,
Be it resolved, That the general assembly ot Virginia,
heartily responds to the spirit of the request, and hereby
authorizes and empowers his excellency, the governor, to
furnish the same to the proper officers in Philadelphia, to be
applied to the purpose indicated in this resolution.
