Chap. 210.—An ACT to authorize the Surviving Trustees of the Front
Royal Academy to Appropriate the Fund arising from the Sale of the
said Academy to the Hreétion of a Public. Free School Building in
the Town of Front Royal, in Front Royal School District. .

‘Whereas by an act of the general assembly, passed March
twenty-second, eighteen hundred and thirty-seven, the Front
Royal academy was incorporated, by which act of incorpo-
ration Mordecai Cloud, Robert M. Marshall, George H. Blake-
more, William R. Ashby, Robert Turner, William M. Buck,
Edward B. Jacob8, Gustavus A. Williams, B. H. Henry,,.
Samuel Simpson, Samuel Gardner, Joseph R. Lacy, Charles
H. Green, and Newman M. Jacobs, were constituted a body
politic and corporate, by the name and style of The Trustees
of the Front Royal Academy; and whereas said trustees by
authority vested in them by said act of incorporation, did
appoint Giles Cook, Isaac N. Buck; Thomas H. Ashby, John
R. Jackson, Robert H. Turner, M. B. Buck, John B. Petty,
and Harrison Dorsey, additional trustees of said academy to
fill vacancies occasioned by death, resignation, and removal;
and whereas 6n the nineteenth of June, eighteen hundred
and forty-seven, Richard Proctor and wife did, by deed duly
recorded in the clerk’s office of Warren county, state of Vir-
inia, convey a certain parcel of land in the town of Front
oyal to said trustees, whereon they erected an academy,
and thereby incurred an indebtedness which they were un-
able to meet, except by the sale of the said academy and
parcel of land, which was made on the sixteenth day of
August eighteen hundred and sixty-nine, one John D.
Weaver becoming the purchaser thereof, for the sum of one
thousand seven hundred and thirty-two dollars; and whereas
there is due from said Weaver upwards of twelve hundred
dollars by reason of said purchase, a lien having been reserved
in the deed to him from said frustees; and whereas it is the
wish and desire of the said trastees, or a majority of them,
and of the citizens of Front Royal school district, that said
fund, in the hands of said Weaver, should be collected and
appropriated by said trustees to the erection of a public free
school building in the town of Front Royal, Front Royal
school district; therefore, .
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the sur-
viving trustees of Front Royal academy be and they are
hereby authorized to collect the proceeds of what is owing
on the purchase of said academy and lot by John D. Weaver,
and turn the same over to the trustees of Front Royal school
district, to be used in the erection of a public free school
building in the town of Front Royal, in Front Royal school
district, to be held according to the twenty-sixth and thirty-
ninth sections of an act approved July eleventh, eighteen
hundred and seventy, entitled an act to establish and main-
tain a uniform system of public free schools.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
