Chap. 209.—An ACT repealing an Act passed January nineteenth,
eighteen hundred and eleven, entitled an Act appropriating the Money
arising from the Sale of the Glebe Lands, in the County of Orange,
and for other purposes, and vesting said Money in the Ceunty School
Board of Orange County.

Whereas the Orange humane society, a corporation char-
tered by an act of the general assembly of Virginia, passed
January nineteenth, eighteen hundred and eleven, entitled
an act appropriating the money arising from the sale of the
Glebe lands, in the county of Orange, and for other purposes,
is now and has been for many years past, wholly disorganized
and inefficient, and has totally failed in carrying out the
purposes and objects contemplated by said act; and whereas
the funds entrusted to said Orange humane society, arising
from the sale of the Glebe lands, in the county of Orange,
and from other sources, are now and have been for many
years past, wholly unadministered and uncared for by said
society, which has, for all the beneficial purposes designed
gue by the aforesaid act, ceased to have amexistence: there-
fore, .

1. Be it enacted, That the act of the general assembly,
passed January nineteenth, eighteen hundred and eleven,
entitled an act appropriating the money arising from the sale
of the Glebe lands, in the county of Orange, and for other
purposes, bo and the same is hereby repealed.

2. That the county school board of Orange county shall
take possession and control of the funds, moneys, debts, pro-

erty and assets of every description arising from the sale of
the Glebe lands, in the county of Orange, and from all other
sources, heretofore vested in and under the charge, control
and management of the said Orange humane society, and
that the county school board of Orange county shall loan out,
or otherwise securely invest all such moneys which it shall
receive or acquire under this act, and shall appropriate the
annual interest arising from the proceeds of the sale of the
Glebe lands, according to the provisions of the said act of the
general assembly passed January nineteenth, eighteen hun-
dred and eleven, and the interest arising on the money re-
ceived under the will of William Monroe, according to, the
provisions of said will. And the county school board of
Orange county shall, in all other respects not inconsistent
with this act, hold, manage an@ control said funds in accord-
ance with the twentieth section of the seventy-eighth chap-
ter of the Code of Virginia.

3. The county school board of Orange county is hereby
authorized and empowered to institute and prosecute ail
such proper suits at law and in equity for the recovery and
possession of the assets vested in it by this act.
4, The said school board of Orange county shall, out of
the money and property acquired under the provisions of
this act from the Orange humane society, pay off and dis-
charge all debts and liabilities against said society, and said
debts and liabilities shall be a lien on all the money and -pro-
perty passing under this act.

5. This act shall be in force from its passage. |
