Chap. 205.—An ACT for the relief of the Sureties of S. F. G. Beale,
late Treasurer of Fauquier County.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That authoritv'be
given to the auditor of public accounts to suspend collection
of a judgment in the name of the commonwealth against S.
F. G. Beale, late treasurer of Fauquier, and William Beale,
J. H. Rixey, C. H. Gordon, W. Millan, William M. Hume and
J. W. James, his sureties, for a period not exceeding twelve
months: provided he shall be satisfied that the same is suffi-
ciently secured by the judgment lien; but nothing herein
contained shall be construed to prohibit the auditor from.col-
lecting the debt whenever he may think proper to do so.
2. The auditor of public accounts is authorized and hereby
required, upon a settlement of the aforesaid judgment, to
receive from said sureties in discharge of said judgment
against said sureties, payment of the principal, legal interest,
costs and expenses of collection, abating therefrom the dam-
ages which have been awarded for said default.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
