Chap. 2.—An ACT to amend the sixth.and eighth sections of an act
entitled an act to Establish a Separate -Circuit Court in and for the
City of Fredericksburg, approved March twenty-sixth, eighteen hun-
dred and seventy-five. .
Approved December 22, 1875.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the sixth
cand eighth sections of an act, approved March twenty-sixth,
eighteen hundred and seventy- ve, entitled an act to estab-
dish a separate circuit court in and for the city of Fredericks-
burg, and to prescribe where the clerk’s office of the circuit
court of Spotsylvania county shall be kept, be amended and
re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 6. All suits, motions, and other proceedings at law or in
equity, which are now pending in the circuit court of Spot-
sylvania county, and which, under the laws in force previous
to the passage of the act to establish a separate circuit court
in and for the city of Fredericksburg, and to prescribe where
the clerk’s office of the circuit court of Spotsylvania county
shall be kept, approved March twenty-sixth, eighteen hun-
dred and seventy-five, might heretofore have been docketed
and tried in the town of Fredericksburg, shall be removed
to the said circuit court of the city of Fredericksburg; and
all records, books, and papers of the said circuit court of
Spotsylvania, which have heretofore been kept in the clerk’s
office of said court at the town of Fredericksburg, shall be
kept and preserved by the clerk of the circuit court of the
city of Fredericksburg. The provisions of section three,
chapter one hundred afd seventy, Code of eighteen hundred
and seventy-three, shall apply and be observed as to all
motions, suits, or other proceedings so removed under the
provisions of this act. .
§ 8. From and after the date when this act takes effect,
the circuit court of Spotsylvania county shall not hold any
sessions of said court in the said city of Fredericksburg, and
from and after said date, the clerk of the said court shall
keep the clerk’s office and all the records, books, and papers,
as to matters hereafter arising and cognizable in said court,
at the courthouse of Spotsylvania county.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
