Chap. 99.—An ACT authorizing the classification of the stock of
the Norfolk library association.
Approved February 13, 1879.
Whereas sundry persons of the city of Norfolk and its
vicinity were, by an order of Honorable George Blow, judge
of the circuit court for the said city, incorporated under the
name and style of “The Norfolk Library Association ;” and
under the constitution adopted by the members of this corpo-
ration the shares of stock have been fixed at the par value of
thirty dollars each; therefore,
1, Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the shares of the capital stock of said corporation, instead of
being only of the par value of thirty dollars, as provided in its
constitution, may hereafter be by the stockholders in general
meeting assembled, so classified as to be of different par values
and with different privileges and liabilities attached to their
ownership; but no share of stock shall be of a greater par
value than one hundred dollars. And it shall be competent for
the said stockholders, in general meeting assembled, to change
such classification of stock, and rearrange the same into such
classes and with such different privileges and liabilities at-
tached thereto as may seem to them best promotive of the
interests of the corporation: provided that no share shall
exceed the par value of one hundred dollars.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
