CHAP. 48.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 5 of an act en~
titled an act to amend and re-enact seetion 4 of au act to amend
the act to incorporate the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association of the
Union, passed March 19, 1858, and to add an ailditional section
thereto.
Approved January 25, 1879.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That section five :
of an act entitled an act to amend and re-enact section four of *
an act to amend the act to incorporate the Mount Vernon i
ladies’ association of the Union, passed March nineteen, ecigh- j
teen hundred and fifty-eight, and to add an additional section | i
thereto, approved April fourth, eighteen hundred and seventy- ’
seven, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows: r
§ 5. The governor of Virginia shall annually appoint and 2
commission five suitable and proper men, who shall constitute +
a board of visitors for Mount Vernon, with the ordinary powers £
of a board of visitors, whose duty it shall be to visit that place 1
and examine and faithfully report to the governor all the pro-
ceedings of said association touching Mount Vernon and the
manner in which they comply or fail to comply with this act
and other laws of the land. But no allowance shall be made »
by said association or the state for expenses incurred by said
board of Visitors in the discharge of the duties prescribed
under the provisions of this act.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage. C
