Chap. 244.—An ACT to ameud section 7 of chapter 81 of the Code
of 1878, in reference to the admission of pupils to the asylum for
the deaf, duinb and blind.
Approved March 3, 1879.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That,
section seyen of chapter eighty-one of the Code of eighteen
hundred and seventy-three, be amended and re-enacted so as
to read as follows:
§ 7. There shall be in said institution one school for educa-
tion of deaf mutes, and another for the education of the blind.
The pupils of each shall be selected as the visitors shall pre-
scribe, among such persons as are unable to pay for their main-
tenance and support, to the extent of the means of the institu-
tion, and also from other persons, residents of this state, on
such terms for their maintenance and support as may be agreed
upon. But hereafter there shall be no charge for the education
of pupils.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
