CHAP. 196.—An ACT to authorize the construction of a turnpike road
from Fiicastic to Blue Ridge Springs, Botetourt county, Virginia.
Approved Mareh 8, 1879.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That Joel B.
Lemon, Phil. F. Brown, Edward Brugh, George Riley, Rufus
Brugh, James M. Feggat, and such otlier persons as may here-
after be associated with them, be and are hereby made a body
corporate and politic, under the name, style and title of The
Fincastle and Blue Ridge Springs Turnpike Company, with
full and adequate powers to construct a turnpike road from
Fincastle to the Blue Ridge Springs, in the coanty of Bote-
tourt, and to acquire by gift or purchase, or by condemnation,
according to law, as much land as may be necessary to con-
struct and operate said road: provided, said road shall not be
less than fifteen feet nor more than thirty feet in width.
2. Books of subscription to the capital stock of said com-
pany may be opened in the town of Fincastle, and at such
other points in the county of Botetourt as may be determined
upon, under the supervision of any three of the above-named
corporators, who are hereby authorized to act as commissioners.
The capital stock shall not be less than two thousand five hun-
d.ed dollars, nor more than fifteen thousand dollars, which shall
be divided into shaves of twenty-five dollars each.
3. The said company may collect tolls for passing over said
road. The rates of toll shall be regulated by the company, but
shail not exceed the rates allowed by existing general laws
governing turnpike companies.
4. The said company may take and use any part of the
county roads of Botetourt lying between said points as part of
their road.
5. This act shall be in force from its passage.
