CHAP. 170.—JOINT RESOLUTIONS for the appointment of com-
missioners, engincers, and surveyors to complete the boundary line
between the States of Virgima and West Virginia, and to defray the
expenses thereof.
Approved March 3, 1879.
Whereas the general assembly on the first day of April, eigh-
teen hundred and seventy-three, passed certain joint resolutions
providing for the appointment of commissioners to act jointly
with commissioners appointed by the governor of West Vir-
ginia, for the purpose of ascertaining and defining the boundary
line between the states of Virgmia and West Virginia; and
whereas the sum appropriated by said resolution, namely : seven
hnndred dollars, has been expended by said commissioners in
ascertaining said boundary line; and whereas the work is not
yet completed, and it being desirable that it should be as early
as possible; therefore,
1. Be it resolved by the general assembly, That the commis-
sioners appointed heretofore by the governor of Virginia, or
such as may hereafter be appointed by him, be instructed to
proceed to complete said boundary line; and that said commis-
sioners haye power to apply through the governor of Virginia,
to the proper United States authority, for the detail of an engi-
neer to aid in ascertaining and defining said line, or to select
in connection with the commissioners appointed by West Vir-
sinia, one county surveyor from each state, as in the judgment
of said conmmissioners may seem best.
2. Resolved, That for the purpose of completing said boun-
dary line, that the auditor of public accounts be instructed to
issue his warrant or warrants on the treasury, payable out of
any money therein not otherwise appropriated, on the orders
of the governor, for the sum of eight hundred dollars, or so
much thereof as may be necessary to carry out the purposes of
these resolutions.
3. That the commissioners so appointed shall submit to the
general assembly, immediately after the completion of their
labors, a full and accurate report of their acts and findings in
performance of their duties, for a ratification or rejection.
4, All acts or joint resulutions, so far as they may be in con-
flict with these resolutions, are hereby repealed.
5. These joint resolutions shall be in force from their pas-
sage.
