Chap. 137.--An ACT to incorporate and establish the Craig Agricul-
tural and Mechanical Associntion.
Approved February 27, 1879,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That M. P. Farrier,
T. B. Neilson, William P. Caldwell, George C. Caldwell, Janes
Ross, William L. Farrier, John W. Jrout. Jacob Albert, P. G.
McGuire, R. C. Reynolds, and such other persons as may be
associated with them, be and they are hereby incorporated and
made a body corporate and politic, under the name and style
of The Craig Agricultural and Mcehanical Association, for the
purpose of establishing and conducting fairs and other exhibi-
tions of the natural and industrial products of Craig county, as
ameans of developing the resources of the said county and
promoting enterprise, industry, economy, and thrift among the
citizens of said county; and that said association shall have
power to acquire by that name, by purchase, gift, devise, or be-
quest, and hold real and personal estate to the value of five
thousand dollars ; may sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded
in all the courts of law and equity in this state, and have per-
petual succession; to have, make, and use a common seal, and
the same to break, alter, or renew at pleasure; to ordain and
establish such by-laws, ordinances, and regulations for the
furtherance of the purpose of an association as they may think
wise and proper, by vote of the stockholders of said associa-
tion, as hereinafter provided, and generally to do every act and
thing necessary to carry into effect this act, or to promote the
object and design of this corporation: provided that such by-
laws, ordinances, regulations, and acts be not inconsistent with
the laws of this state or of the United States.
2. The stock of said association shall be divided into one
thousand shares of five dollars each, and the said association
is authorized to organize under the provisions of this act when
the sum of two hundred dollars in said stock has been taken
and paid in.
3. Each stockholder shall be entitled to one vote for each
share of stock held by himself or his minor children.
4. Such constitution, as shall be adopted by a two-thirds vote
of the stockholders of said association, shall be held and deemed
to be the constitution of said association, and shall not be
altered or amended except as may be therein provided.
5+. This act shall be in force from its passage.
CHAP. 137.—An ACT to authorize the trustees of the parsonage of
the Society of United Brethren in Christ, at Edinburg, Shenaudoah
county, Virginia, to sell the same.
Approved February 27, 1879.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
it shall be lawful for the trustees of the parsonage belonging
to the society of the United Brethren in Christ, at Edinburg,
Shenandoah county, Virginia, to sell said parsonage and con-
vey the title of the same to the purchaser, the proceeds of the
sale to be applied in payment of a debt resting on said par-
sonage: provided, however, that the purchaser shail not be
required to secure the application of the purchase mdney paid
for said property.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
