CHAP. 124.-An ACT to incorporate the Lake Drummond Masonic
Temple Association of Deep Crech, Norfolk county, Virginia.
Approved February 27, 1879.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
S.W. Gary, John R. Simmons, William Wood, M. J. Ballentine,
Willis W. Tucker, and all others that may hereafter be asso-
ciated with them, are hereby made a body politic and corporate,
under the style and title of The Lake Drummond Masonic
Temple Association of the village of Deep Creek.
2. The object of the said association shall be to purchase
one acre of land in or near the village cf Deep Creek, Norfolk
county, Virginia, as a site, and to erect thereon a suitable
building adapted to the use of masonic lodges and other bodies
or orders.
3. The capital stock shall not be less than one thousand
dollars nor more than five thousand dollars, in shares of twenty-
five dollars each: and the affairs of said association shall be
managed by a board of trustees, who shall have power to open
books, under their own superintendence or that of any other
person or persons whom they may appoint, for subscriptions
to the capital stock of the association, at such times and places
as they may think proper; and as soon as the minimum amount
of the stock is subscribed.they shall then organize, by the ap-
pointment of one of their own body as president; and the said
trustees shall have power to appoint a secretary and treasurer,
and such other officers and agents as they may deem necessary,
and fix their salaries; and the said treasurer shall give such
bond and security to the board of trustees as they may require.
4, The board of trustees shall have power to make such rules
and regulations for the government of tlie association as are
necessary, not contrary to the laws of this state; and they shall
have power to determine the location, to purchase the ground,
and to adopt the plan and arrangement of the building, and
contract for and superintend the erection of the same; to col-
lect subscription of the stock in such requisitions as may be
necessary for the payment of the purchase of the ground and
the completion of the building, and when completed, the board
of trustees shall, through their officers and agents, take charge
of the building, to rent out the various parts,. determine the
rent, collect the income arising therefrom; to alter and repair
the building; to declare and pay out any revenues of the net
profits which they may deem proper for the best interests of
the corporation generally.
5. The said association may receive from any persons volun-
tary donations, in real or personal property, or money, for its
own benefit.
6. This act shall be in force from its passage.
