Chap. 12.—An ACT in relation to the assessment of real property
for purposes of municipal taxation in the city of Alexandria, and
to exeinpt aud except said city from the operation of an act en-
titled an act to provide a basis of municipal taxation on the reat
property in cities and towns, approved March 29, 1877.

Approved January 10, 1879.

_1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the provi-
sions of an act entitled an act to provide a basis of municipal
taxation on the real property in cities and towns, approved
March twenty-ninth, eighteen hundred and seventy-seven, shall
not apply to the city of Alexandria.
2. That the assessment of real property in the city of Alex- 4
andria for purposes of municipal taxation, shall be made un- |
der and in accordance with the provisions of the charter of the v
said city, and such laws and ordinances as the city council may |,
enact: provided that nothing in this act shall in anywise affect ?
any taxes payable to the city of Alexandria during the year F
eighteen hundred and seventy-eight.

3. This act shall be in force from its passage. C
