CHAP. 99.—An ACT to authorize counties, cities, and towns to
aid in the construction of the Potomac and Piedmont railwa
company, and for that purpose to subscribe to its capital stoc
and to acquire its bonds.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That for the purpose of aiding the Potomac and Piedmont
railway company to construct its line of railway from
some point on the Potomac river, by such route as the
company may select, to a point or points on the line or
iines now operated by the Chesapeake and Ohio railway
company east of the Blue Ridge mountain, it shall be
lawful for any county, city, or town through which the
said railway may pass to subscribe tothe capital stock of
the Potomac and Piedmont railway company or to acquire
the bonds of the said corporation by purchase or other-
wise under the restrictions as are established by law.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
