CHAP. 450.—An ACT to incorporate the Hope fire company of the
town of Berkley.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That I. O. Diggs, W. S. Rudd, C. W. Parks, William
Starke, James W. West, John M. Berkley, R. B. Scott,
Lewis W. Hozier, O. R. Diggs, and J. J. Fitzpatrick, their
associates and successors, are hereby made a body politic
and corporate under the name and style of the Hope fire
company of the town of Berkley, and by that name shall
have perpetual succession, and may acquire and hold, by
gift, devise, or purchase, real estate. in the county of Nor-
folk not exceeding five thousand dollars in value, and may
borrow money on such real estate for the equipment of
their company; may contract and be contracted with, sue
and be sued, plead and be impleaded, and have a corpor-
ate seal, and make by-laws and regulations not inconsis-
tent with the laws of this state.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
