CHAP. 341.—An ACT to authorize the Richmond and Seven Pines
railway company, incorporated by acts approved February 3,
1888, to build a branch road to the cemetery and battle-field of
Cold Harbor, in the county of Hanover.
Approved February 24, 1890.
1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That the Richmond city and Seven Pines railway company
shall have the right to build a branch road from any point
on its main line to Cold Harbor, Hanover county, Vir-
ginia, and to operate the same in the transportation of
freight and passengers over the same, and to charge and
collect toil and fares for the same.
2. The said company shall have the right to acquire, by
gift, purchase, or condemnation, in the mode prescribed
by law, the right of way for said road, and shall have the
right to cross the Chickahominy river at any point 1t may
select: provided, that the said company shall not occupy,
‘or interfere with, any public highway in the county of
Hanover, save and except that it may cross or intersect
the same in such manner as may be agreed upon between
said company and the surveyor of said highway.
3. The said company shall have the right to issue its
stock and bonds upon its main line or its said branch line,
or both, in such amounts as it may deem proper, and use
the same in payment for the right of way and for the
material, labor, and cost of constructing said road, upon
such terms as it may deem proper; or the said company
shall have the right to contract for the construction of said
road, and to pay for the same by the delivery of such an
amount of its said stock and bonds as may be agreed
upon; such contract, however, to be ratified by a majority
of the stockholders in general meeting assembled.
4. The said company shall have the right to secure ite
said bonds by a deed of trust or mortgage upon its said
main or branch line; but the said mortgage or deed of
trust shall be a first lien upon the said branch road.
5. This act shall be in force from passage.
