CHAP. 305.—An ACT to incorporate certain powers on the Rich-
mond city railway company.
Approved February 20, 1890.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That the Richmond city railway company be, and is
hereby, authorized to lease or sell and transfer its works,
property, franchises, rights, privileges, and immunities of
every kind to, or to ‘consolidate with, the Richmond rail-
way and electric company, on such terms and conditions
as may be agreed on between the said companies. But
the above power is granted upon the condition that any
exercise of the same shall be deemed and held to bea
full surrender by the said Richmond city railway com-
‘pany of the power granted it by the fifth section of an
act entitled an act to enlarge the powers of the Richmond
city railway company, approved March first, eighteen bhun-
dred and eighty-eight, to lease or purchase the exclusive
or joint right of way over or interest in the road-bed, rails,
and franchises of any railroad, railway company, or com-
pany for the quick transit of persons, or persons and
freight.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.

CuapP. 306.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 8 of an act
entitled an act to amend and re-enact an act to incorporate
the Manchester Railway and Improvement company, and to
change the name thereof to the Richmond and Manchester
Railway company, approved February 19, 1886.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That the eighth section of the act approved February
nineteen, eighteen hundred and eighty-six, acts of eigh-
teen hundred and eighty-five and eighty-six, chapter one
hundred and sixty-eight, entitled an act to amend and
re-enact an act to incorporate the.Manchester railway and
improvement company, and to change the name thereof to
the Richmond and Manchester railway company, be
amended and re-enacted so aa to read as follows:
§8. Said company may connect its street railway with
other street railways within the limits aforesaid, now ex-
isting, with the consent of the owners of such railways;
and said company may also acquire and own by lease,
purchase, or otherwise, any street railway, and the prop-
erty and franchises thereof, in or-near Richmond and
Manchester now incorporated or constructed, and may
unite and consolidate such railway or railways with their
company, and may issue therefor the bonds and stock of
said company as may be agreed upon, or may sell and
transfer its works, property, franchises, privileges, rights,
and immunities to, or may consolidate with, the Richmond
railway and electric company, or any other existing com-
pany having power to construct or operate a street railway
or railways in the cities and counties mentioned in the
preceding section, or either of them. But all the powers
and privileges granted in this section are to be at all
times suhject to such conditions and limitations as the
city of Richmond or Manchester, or the James river
bridge company have respectively heretofore imposed
upon any such street railway company or may hereafter
impose under any power reserved by said cities by said
James river bridge company, respectively, or may here-
after see fit to impose as to any additional privilege here-
after granted, or as to any removals of the present privi-
leges, when the same may lapse or terminate.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
