CHAP. 160.—An ACT to amend aud re-enact section 95, chapter
9, of the eode of Virginia of 1887, in relation to the appoint-
ment of superintendents of the poor and county surveyors in
the counties of Dinwiddie, Cumberland, Buckingham, Greenes-
ville, and Sussex. .

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That section ninety-five, chapter nine of the code of Vir-
ginia of eighteen hundred and eighty-seven, in relation
to the appointment of superintendents of the poor and
county surveyors, so far as the same applies to the coun-
ties of Dinwiddie, Cumberland, Buckingham, Greenesville,
and Sussex be amended and re-enacted so that said sec-
tion ninety-five of chapter nine of the said code, so far as
the same applies to the counties of Dinwiddie, Cumber-
land, Buckingham, Greenesville, and Sussex shall read as
follows :
895. Each county judge of the counties of Dinwiddie,
Cumberland, Buckingham, Greenesville, and Sussex shall,
at the May term of his court in the year eighteen hundred
and ninety-one, and every fourth year thereafter, appoint
for each county in which he holds his court, one county
surveyor and one superintendent of the poor.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
CHAP 161.—An ACT to extend time to Charles M. Shannon,
deputy treasurer of Smyth county for the collection of taxes
and county levies in his hands.

Whereas Charles M. Shannon, deputy treasurer of
Smyth county, has in his hands various tickets for taxes
and levies, both state and county, for the years eighteen
hundred and eighty-five to eighteen hundred and eighty-
six inclusive, and said tickets remain uncollected, but for
which he has settled with the county and state authori-
ties; therefore, ~ |
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That authority is hereby given said Charles M. Shannon
to collect the amount due upon said tickets for taxes and
levies, which have not been returned delinquent or insol-
vent; and he shall have the power of levy and distress
for the same that treasurers now have under the present
laws, and that this power be extended for the period of
one year from the passage of this act.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
