Chap. 133.—An ACT for the protection of certain game in Fred-
erick and Shenandoah counties.
Approved January 31, 1890.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That it shall be unlawful for any person to kill or capture,
or offer for sale, or bag any partridges or quails between
the first day of January and the first day of November;

or any pheasants or ruffled grouse or wild turkeys between
the first day of February and the first day of November;
or woodcock between the first day of April and the first
day of July; and it shall be unlawful for any non-resi-
dent ef this state at any time to offer for sale or ship for
purposes of sale any of said game.
2. If any person violate any of the provisions of the
preceding. section he shall be deemed guilty of a misde-
meanor, and shal! be fined for each offense twenty dollars
and be imprisoned in jail until the fine be paid, not
exceeding thirty days. One-half, the fine shall be paid to
the prosecutor. In any prosecution of a person for the
violation of the preceding section, proof of the possession
by such person of any such bird shall be prima facie evi-
dence of his guilt.
3. This act shall apply only to Frederick and Shenan-
doah counties.
4. All acts or parts of acts in conflict with this act are
hereby repealed, but nothing herein contained shall be
deemed to interfere with the laws now in force in regard
to unlawful hunting of birds or other animals not em-
braced in this act.
5. This act shall be in force from its passage.
