CHAP. 67.—An ACT to preserve the jurisdiction of this state over
eprporatious of other states or countries operating railroads in
state.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That whenever any corporation chartered or existing by,
under, or in pursuance of the laws of any state or country
other than the state of Virginia, shall assume the opera-
tion and control of any railroad in this state as purchaser
or lessee, or in pursuance of a consolidation or merger of
rights, property, franchises, and interest, or otherwise,
such corporation shall ipso facto become and be a corpo-
ration of this state in respect to the works, property, and
franchises controlled or operated by it within the state,
and shall as such be subject to the jurisdiction of the
courts of this state, and in all respects governed and con-
trolled by the laws of this state.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
