CHAP. 197.—An ACT for the relief of J. T. Lucas, of Giles
county.
Approved March {, 1890.
Whereas on the day of , eighteen hundred
and eighty-nine, J. T. Lucas, of Giles county, was fined
by the county court of said county the sum of one hun-
dred dollars for selling brandy peaches without license
therefor; and whereas such sale was made ,under a mis-
apprehension, the said Lucas having first applied to the
commonwealth’s attorney for said county to know if he
had the right under his merchant’s license to sell said
peaches, and being informed by said commonwealth’s
attorney that he had such right; and whereas the said
Lucas only sold said peaches to a smal] extent, and ceased
to zel] same when and so soon as he ascertained that to
sell said peaches without a special license therefor was
contrary to law; therefore, .
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That J. T. Lucas be, and he is hereby, relieved from the
payment of the sum of one hundred dollars, it being the
amount of a fine imposed upon him by the county court
of Giles county at its March term, eighteen hundred
and eighty-nine.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
