CHAP. 13.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 277 code of
Virginia, 1887, in relation to the printing of acts of general
assembly.
Approved January 15, 1890.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That section two hundred and seventy-seven of the code
of Virginia, eighteen hundred and eighty-seven, be
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 277. How acts of general assembly printed. The acts
and joint resolutions of each session of the general assem-
bly shall be printed in octavo form and in a style to cor-
respond with that of the acts of the session of eighteen
hundred and sixty-five and sixty-six, except that the acts
and resolutions of each session shall be printed and num-
bered in the order in which they are passed and as soon
as practicable thereafter; provided that all acts and joint
resolutions of a general or public character shall be placed
together in the front parts of the acts of assembly, with
an index to the same; and then be placed Bhuaters or pri-
vate acts, with an index to the same.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
CHap 14.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 622 of the
code of Virginia in reference to the property that may be dis-
cranes for taxes.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That section six hundred and twenty-two of the code of
Virginia be amended and re-enacted so as to read as fol-
lows:
§ 622. Any goods or chattels in the county or corpora-
tion belonging to the person or estate assessed with taxes
or levies may be distrained therefor by the treasurer,
sheriff, sergeant, constable or collector. In all cases pro-
perty subject to levy or distress shall be liable to levy or
distress in the hands of any person for the taxes thereon.
And any timber or wood growing on the land belonging to
the person or estate assessed with taxes or levies may be
distrained and sold, so far as necessary, to pay the amount
thereof, and the expenses of sale; and any purchaser shall
have the right to cut and carry away the timber or wood
purchased by him at such sale; provided that the timber
or wood shall be sold standing, in the manner prescribed
by section nine hundred and six of the code for the sale
of goods and chattels other than mules, oxen, and horses;
and provided further, that no purchaser in carrying away
timber or wood, shall haul the same across or over any
land occupied at the time by a growing crop.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
