An Act to amend and reenact § 40-61.2 of the Code of Virginia, relating
to certain safeguards required during construction work. 'H 808)

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

mm That § 40-61.2 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted, as
ollows:

§ 40-61.2. In construction, maintenance, excavation and demolition
work, adequate and suitable shoring and other safeguards shall be used
whenever such work has progressed to the degree that danger to the em-
Dloyees or general public may exist. The Safety Codes Commission, in
the adoption of rules and regulations under this title, shall adopt such
reasonable rules and regulations as are designed to protect the safety of
the employees engaged therein and the general public while such work
8 tm progress. Such rules and regulations may be based upon the recom-
mendations of recognized bodies in the fields of construction, excavation
und demolition, and generally recognized bodies in the field of safety
shich have promulgated standards for the protection of employees * and
the general public while such work is in progress.
