CHAPTER 588
An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered
$7-$6.1, 80 as to permit certain counties and cities to supplement the
salaries of certain employees therein.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia: |
1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
37-36.1, as follows: ; ae
§ 37-86.1. The governing body of any county having a population of
more than one hundred fifty thousand, and of any county having a
tion of more than twenty-four thousand fifty and less than twenty-four
thousand two hundred fifty, and of any county having a population of more
than twenty-four thousand five hundred and less than twenty-five thousand
seven hundred fifty, and of any county having a population of more than
fifty thousand and less than fifty-one thousand, and of any city wholly
within the boundaries of such counties, and of any city having a population
of more than ninety thousand and less than ninety-five thousand may appro-
priate and pay funds to the local superintendent and other persons em-
ployed in hospitals operated by the State Hospital Board in or near such
counties or cities in excess of that fixed by the Board; provided, however,
that such additional compensation shall be paid wholly from the funds of
such county or city. Any such governing body may also appropriate funds
to the State Hospital Board and provide that such funds shall be paid by
the Board to specified individuals employed in any such hospital.
