An Act for the relief of J. W. Enochs.

_ Whereas, there lies in the James River, within fifteen hundred feet
of its channel and wholly within the boundaries of Prince George County,
Virginia, a certain island which was produced largely by accretion; and
Whereas, the said island for more than one hundred years has been
known as and considered a part of Colgin Point Farm, which during said
period of time has been held solely by J. W. Enochs and his predecessors
e; an
Whereas, Chapter 5 of Title 41 of the Code of Virginia provided a
remedy in such cases, but this chapter has been repealed, and no remedy
at law or in equity exists whereby J. W. Enochs might have recourse; now,
therefore, |
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of § 41-1 of the Code of Vir-
ginia, the State Librarian is authorized and directed to convey by quitclaim
deed to J. W. Enochs all rights, title and interest of the Commonwealth of
Virginia in and to the following real estate holding: all those certain par-
cels of land with improvements thereon and appurtenances thereto per-
taining and accretions heretofore or hereafter occurring lying and being
in Blackwater District, Prince George County, Virginia, described as
ollows:
“All that certain land lying above low water line in the James River
described with reference to a traverse or survey line as beginning at a
point on a concrete monument the coordinates of which are 356, 341. 77N
& 2, 383, 353.88 E; thence S 57° 01’ 25”E for a distance of 209.91’ to a
point; thence § 11° 04’ 35’ W for a distance of 309.42’ to a point; thence
S 86° 39’ 35” W for a distance of 304.82’ to a point; thence N 35° 05’ 25” W
for a distance of 374.61’ to a point; thence N 55° 25’ 35”E for a distance
of 325.50’ to a point; thence S 67° 36’ 25”E for a distance of 145.98’ to the
point of beginning. Said traverse or survey line does not encompass the
entire parcel of land, said land extending from said traverse or survey line
to low water line as aforesaid.
“All that certain land lying above low water line in the James River
described with reference to a traverse or survey line as beginning at a
certain point described as Point X, said Point X being described as that
point lying N 31° 31’ 40”W, at a distance of 1,594.82’ from a point on a
concrete monument the coordinates of which monument are 354,277.69 N
& 2,388,403.48E; thence from said Point X, S 75° 10’ W for a distance of
1,215.00’ to a point; thence N 51° 17’ W for a distance of 670.00’ to a point;
thence N 87° 05’ W for a distance of 1,685.00’ to a point; thence N 11° 50’
35” E for a distance of 346.21’ to a point; thence S 85° 43’ 25” E for a dis-
tance of 1,835.63’ to a point; thence N 83° 53’ 35” E for a distance of
949.10’ to a point; thence S 57° 38’ 25” E for a distance of 585.00’ to a
point; thence S 12° 29’ 31” E for a distance of 188.02’ to the point of be-
ginning at Point X. Said traverse or survey line does not encompass the
entire parcel of land, said land extending from said traverse or survey line
to low water line as aforesaid; except that the last leg (188.02’) of the
above described traverse or survey line, as extended from both ends of
such leg along its described course to low water line, is extended to be and
is the easterly boundary of said parcel of land.’
Such deed shall be in form approved by the Attorney General.
