CHAPTER 448

An Act to authorize the State Hospital Board to establish, construct, equip
and operate a State hospital within certain geographic limits for
mentally retarded persons under certain conditions. CH 765]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. The State Hospital Board is authorized to establish, construct,
equip and operate within the area composed of the counties of Fauquier,
{oudoun, Prince William, Arlington, and Fairfax, a State hospital for the
custody, care and treatment of mentally retarded persons. Such institution
shall have a capacity for at least five hundred patients.

§ 2. No such hospital shall, however, be established unless the land
on which the same is to be located can be acquired without cost to the
Commonwealth and unless the site for such hospital is approved by the
State Hospital Board.
