CHAPTER 406

An Act to amend and reenact § 14.1-166, of the Code of Virginia, relating
to contribution towards compensation of deputy circuit court clerk in
certain counties.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 14.1-166 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted
as follows: ,

§ 14.1-166. The governing body of any county having a population
of less than twenty-five thousand or a county having a population of not
less than forty-one thousand nor more than forty-four thousand five hun-
dred may contribute from funds derived from the general county levy
such sum or sums as, in its discretion, it deems proper towards the salary
or compensation of the deputy clerk of the circuit court of the county.
All such payments heretofore made by such counties are hereby validated
and confirmed.

2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
