An Act to amend and reenact § 11-1, as amended, of the Code of Virgint
relating to the validity of certain contracts not in writing as to certa
creditors and purchasers. rs 38

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 11-1, as amended, of the Code of Virginia be amended a!
reenacted as follows:

§ 11-1. Every contract, not in writing, made in respect to real esta
or goods and chattels in consideration of marriage, or made for the co
veyance or sale of real estate, or a term therein of more than five year
and except as otherwise provided in § 8.2-402 of the Uniform Commerc
Code, every bill of sale or contract for the sale of goods and chattels whe
the possession is allowed to remain with the seller, shall be void, both |
law and in equity, as to purchasers for value and without notice al
