An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered
17-14.1, to permit certain county circuit courts to be held in courtrooms
man adjacent city within the same judicial circuit; and to amend and
reenact § 17-18, as amended, of the Code of Virginia, relating to places
for holding court.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
17-14.1 and that § 17-18, as amended, of the Code of Virginia be amended
and reenacted, the amended and new sections being as follows:
§ 17-14.1. The circuit court for any county within a judicial circutt
containing a city having a population of more than two hundred thousand
and a county adjacent thereto having a population of more than one hun-
dred thousand may utilize the circuit courtroom facilities of the adjacent
city within such judicial circuit for holding court in civil proceedings
whenever such utilization ig deemed advisable in the discretion of the sentor
judge of such judicial circuit; provided, such city shall not be required to
add to, enlarge or extend such courtroom facilities or services provided in
connection with the use thereof.
§ 17-18. No such place of session for a circuit or corporation court
shall be without the limits of the county or corporation of which it is the
court, except as provided in §§ 17-14.1 and 17-15 of the Code of Virginia.
And when such place is appointed because of the destruction of the building
in which the Supreme Court of Appeals or Special Court of Appeals was
held, ihe new place of session shall be within the same city or town with
