CHAPTER 180
An Act to authorize the Virginia Commission for the Visually Handt-
capped to establish and construct a rehabilitation center for the visu-
ally handicapped on certain property; to relieve the Commission of
responsibility for construction and operation of a Virginia School
for the Blind; and to authorize the Commission to convey a portion
or portions of such property and to use the proceeds of any such
conveyance.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. §1. The Virginia Commission for the Visually Handicapped is
authorized to establish and construct a rehabilitation center for the visu-
ally handicapped wheresoever it may deem proper on that parcel of land,
consisting of one hundred eighty-seven and one-half acres, more or less,
being the same property referred to in Chapter 419 of the Acts of Assem-
bly of 1924 and the same held by the Commission originally for the pur-
pose of conducting thereon a school for certain blind children to be known
as the Virginia School for the Blind.
§ 2. The Commission is hereby relieved of any and all responsibility,
delegated to it under Chapter 419 of the Acts of Assembly of 1924, or
any subsequent enactment, for the construction, operation or conduct of
a Virginia School for the Blind on such parcel of land or any other.

§ 3. The Commission is further authorized, subject to obtaining the
written approval of the Governor, to transfer or convey, by deed in form
approved by the Attorney General, all the right, title and interest of the
Commonwealth and the Commission to any portion or portions of such
property unnecessary to the establishment of the rehabilitation center for
the visually handicapped, upon such terms and conditions as it deems
proper, to any State agency or institution or to any other responsible
governmental or private agency, institution or organization or to any
responsible individual.
4. The Commission shall designate the proceeds from any such
transfer or conveyance for whichever of the following purposes it deems
proper relating to the establishment or construction of the rehabilitation
center for the visually handicapped or other like facilities for the visually
dicapped under its purview and supervision, namely: the purchase or
acquisition of land and any structures and improvements thereon; the
construction of facilities; and the acquisition of necessary equipment.
