An Act to amend and reenact § 54-112.16, as amended, of the Code «
Virginia, relating to registratton of certain cosmetologists or hat
dressers.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 54-112.16, as amended, of the Code of Virginia be amend
and reenacted as follows:
§ 54-112.16. (a) Any person who has been duly licensed to practi
as a cosmetologist or hairdresser, in any state in the United States whic
has a standard of qualifications and examinations for such practice as hig
as that provided for in Virginia by this chapter, * may, upon prope
application to the Board and upon the payment of the sum of fiftec
dollars, in lieu of examination and registration fees, be issued a certifica'
that any applicant, upon due proof that he or she has continuously engaged
tn such occupation outside the territorial limits of the United States for
at least five years immediately prior to such application, and upon pay-
ment of the required fees, shall be eligible for a temporary license pending
examination by the Board under § 54-112.11:1.
(b) A nonresident “registered professional hairdresser’ may give
demonstrations in Virginia of the practice of cosmetology and hairdressing
for a period of not more than seven days in any calendar year without
first obtaining a Virginia certificate of registration.
