CHAPTER 148

An Act to amend and reenact § 17.111.1 of the Code of Virginia, relating
to the office of Executive Secretary to the Supreme Court of Appeals.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
ae That § 17-111.1 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted as
ollows:

§ 17-111.1. The office of Executive Secretary to the Supreme Court
of Appeals, to be filled by a person having the qualifications required of a
judge of a court of record, is hereby created. He shall be appointed by the
Supreme Court of Appeals, shall hold office at the pleasure of the Court,
and during his tenure of office shall not engage in the private practice of
law. He shall receive such compensation as may be fixed by the Court *.
He may, with the approval of the Court, employ such persons as are neces-
sary for the performance of the duties of his office, whose compensation
all be fixed by the Court within the limits of the amounts appropriated
